Synopsis

'Without Control' - A horror film where an ordinary lazy teenager fights to save mankind.

A lazy eighteen year old male named 'Kyle Austin' has a girlfriend from hell, she literally wants to kill him. This story is about a girl that drinks a home made potion that turns her to a blood thirsty killer, and once she's killed one they come alive again like her. The epidemic has a cure though that Kyle finds in his girlfriends apartment. Because the girl that started it all off and has the potion and cure ingredients is Kyle's girlfriend. He has to kill to survive whilst looking for solutions to cure mankind.
At the start 'Kyle' meets with five others and they together go to her apartment and see she the one that started it all off, then they look for a lab and the ingredients to make the cure. However there are now thousands of mutants about after their blood so it makes the journey very hard. After they make the cure they have to inject the main source meaning Kyle has to find his girlfriend (Hannah) to stop the killing but on the way he loses four of the five friends that joined him on his quest.

Four pitches (25 words each)

1. A blood thirsty virus epidemic is let loose in England and an ordinary lazy teenager is destine to fight back and to find a cure.

The equilibrium is the world living it's normal life, but the disequilibrium is when humans start to turn into mutant-zombies.

2. A family trapped from the world on a woodland holiday are being meddled with by a murderous group of mental patients that have broken free.

The equilibrium is the family having a nice holiday alone, but the murderous group after them creates the disequilibrium.

3. A group of teenagers go on a camping trip but end up lost and fighting to survive from the beasts that lurk within the forest.

The equilibrium is of the group living a usual day-to-day life, but the disequilibrium is when they go to the forest.
4. An ordinary group of people, ranging in age wake up to find they are the only one's left and are learning to survive without resources.

The films opening titles.

First the opening will come up with Twisted Pictures because they are well known for their excellent horror films and since my film is a horror it will help the movie gain more audience also the well known name will give it more credibility.
Further more i will then have SJM productions, this is my own company but its simple and looks profession.

And that will make the film look a higher standard.

Twisted Pictures is a US major production film, mainly known for the SAW films. SJM production's is a UK indie film so the other production will boost it's audience due to it's popularity.

Preliminary Task

This task was to use the 180 degree, match on action, shot-reverse-shot rules whilst having a constant continuity. I think this went well because it obeys all the rules like the shot reverse shot kept the 180 degree rule. Also when i did the filming, i filmed all the lines for that side and the same on the other side. This is because the camera wouldn't keep moving about and i could make sure the 180 degree rule wasn't broke. Also that helps the clip flow which is the match on action. I think the match on action is completed because there is no breaks and the clip flows well. Like when he comes through the door and into the room, continuity is kept. Another thing that keeps the match on action is the eye line match when Ryan talks to the guard (Bradley). From this short clip you can tell the plot and theme although they are poorly constructed.
Another camerawork/mise-en-scene skill i used that i positioned Ryan to be standing to make him look superior and looking down (high angle) at Luke who was looking inferior and looking up (low angle).

A major criticism is the location picked for the police interview room, it's nothing like a interviewing room and and there was a lot of diegetic noises from the surround area. Also during Luke's parts you could see the class move around behind him which make the clip look a low standard.
The dialogue was very basic and there wasn't a grabbing story so i don't think people would want to watch this.

However i think it is good because it obeys the rules given for this preliminary task whilst having a constant continuity. It may not be interesting to some  people but there would be a niche for this genre.

Riot scene

I have downloaded four videos off YouTube for the riot scene. They will be cut up and made into loads of quick shots to create more suspense and commotion. The clips will be flipped to avoid copyright issues also i am only using small parts of them so there is no issues.
